Users & Permissions

When subscribed to the Lagoon Maker or Lagoon Pro plan, you can manage additional Lagoon users. Lagoon users are separate from any Soracom Access Management (SAM) Users associated with your Soracom account, and can only login to Soracom Lagoon.

There are two types of Lagoon users:

You can manage Lagoon users in order to give other members of your organization or your customers access to your dashboards, without providing access to your Soracom account.

In addition, when subscribed to the Lagoon Pro plan, you can also customize which users are able to view or edit individual Lagoon dashboards by editing their Dashboard Permissions.


Managing Users

Creating a User

  1. Login to the User Console. From the Menu, open the SORACOM Lagoon screen.

  2. From the Lagoon user management section, click the Add a Lagoon user button.

  3. Enter the user Role, Email address, and Password, then click the Create button.

Once created, the user will appear in the list of Lagoon users.

Modifying a User

If you want to change the email address, password, or role of a Lagoon user, you can modify the user from the Lagoon settings page.

  1. Login to the User Console. From the Menu, open the SORACOM Lagoon screen.

  2. From the Lagoon user management section, click the for the Lagoon user you want to modify. Click the Actions menu, then:

    • To change the email address, select Update email address. Then enter the new email address and click the Update button.

    • To change the password, select Update password. Then enter the current password and the new password and click the Update button.

    • To change the role, select Update permissions. Then select the new role and click the Update button.

Deleting a User

If you no longer need a particular Lagoon user, you can delete it from the Lagoon settings page.

  1. Login to the User Console. From the Menu, open the SORACOM Lagoon screen.

  2. From the Lagoon user management section, click the for the Lagoon user you want to modify. Click the Actions menu, then select Delete.

  3. Click the Delete button to confirm.

Setting Dashboard Permissions

When using Dashboard Permissions, each Lagoon dashboard can be configured to allow different levels of access for each Lagoon user:

  1. Login to the User Console. From the Menu, open the SORACOM Lagoon screen.

  2. From the Manage SORACOM Lagoon dashboards section, click the for the dashboard you want to configure. Click the Actions menu, then select Edit Permissions.

  3. For each Lagoon user, select the Access permission you want to grant to the user. Then click the Update button.

    If a dashboard is configured so that all users have No Access, each user will inherit its default role (read/write or read-only) permissions.
