Troubleshooting Satellite Connections
If you experience issues establishing a connection when using planNT1, follow these troubleshooting steps:
- Verify that your device is running supported firmware and using a Skylo-certified module. Modules must be properly certified and running firmware versions that support NB-IoT NTN (Release 17).
- Ensure that you are using a high-gain antenna placed in an elevated position. Proper antenna gain and placement are critical for maintaining line-of-sight to overhead satellites and achieving sufficient signal strength.
- Avoid placing the antenna near sources of interference such as metal surfaces or power adapters. Electromagnetic interference can significantly degrade satellite signal reception and may prevent successful registration.
- Make sure the device is configured with valid GPS coordinates before attempting to attach to the network. Satellite connectivity requires an approximate location in order to optimize communication with a satellite.
- Try operating the device outdoors with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. Dense structures or environmental obstructions may prevent the device from establishing a satellite link.
- Double-check that the correct SIM card is inserted and that the appropriate frequency bands are configured for your region. Refer to the band configuration section and use the recommended bands for North America, Europe, or Oceania.
- Allow time between AT commands and wait for the response from the module before issuing the next command. Satellite communications have higher latency, and sending commands too quickly can cause failures or inconsistent results.
